Abubakari Malik Addae is the Co-Founder of LifeCheq, a financial services company that is based in Cape Town, South Africa. He is also the CEO of the company and became the CEO in September 2015.[1] Addae is an actuarial scientist.

He was born on 29 September, 2020 in Ghana.[2]

Addae is the CEO at Convex Financial and became CEO in August 2015. Convex Financial is a financial services company that is based in Cape Town, South Africa[3] LifeCheq was founded in August 2015.[4]


He received his Master’s Degree in Financial Mathematics from the University of Cape Town in Cape Town, South Africa, in 2006.

Addae received a Chartered Financial Institute qualification from the CFA Institute.

He was also the Head of Asset Liability Management from March 2009 to February 2013. His position made him responsible for building Old Mutual Life Assurance Company’s Asset-Liability Management (ALM) function, from the ground up to a team of 25 professionals. The team was responsible for managing financial risks and capital on a balance sheet in excess of R200bn, including Old Mutual’s hedging programme and annuity portfolios. Addae was the Head of Balance Sheet Management at Old Mutual from March 2013 to July 2015. During this time he was a member of the Old Mutual Emerging Markets (OMEM) Executive Committee and was responsible for establishing OMEM’s Balance Sheet function, as well as covering core strategic aspects of finance, risk, product and investment operations. This role covered Old Mutual’s operations in South Africa, Asia, Latin America and included Treasury, Asset-Liability Management, Credit Risk Management and Economic Value Management.[5]
