Ahmed Negm is a co-founder of Raye7, together with his sister, Samira Negm. They co-founded the carpooling mobile app that has been described as a culturally sensitive ride-sharing app in the Middle East and Africa[1] in 2014.[2] He is the Product Manager at Raye7[3] while his sister is the CEO of the company.[4]

He is skilled in Event Management and Project Planning and is a Social Tech Entrepreneur.[5]

Education

Negm completed his Bachelor of Sciences degree in Mechatronics Engineering and graduated with Honours from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport in Egypt from 2008 to 2017.

In June 2008, he was issued his Project Management Certificate from Bayan for Human Development and the following year, Nile University issued him his Innovation certificate in January. He also received his marketing qualification from eMarketing Egypt in July, 2011. He received his Digital Marketing Certificate from the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (TIEC) in 2015. Ahead of the Curve issued him a User Experience certificate and he was issued a Sale Training certificate from the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology(MCIT) in Egypt in December 2016.

2016 saw Negm becoming a fellow at the AUC Venture Lab at The American University in Cairo.[6] The AUC Venture Lab is Egypt’s first university-based start-up accelerator programme and a leading accelerator in Africa and the Middle East.[7]

Negm was issued his Personality Typing and Assessments certificate from the International Enneagram Association and the MCIT issued him the Agile Product Development certificate in 2017.

Career

He was an Events Speaker and Facilitator for StartUp Grind,[8] a community of startups, founders, innovators and creators,[9] from January 2012 to July 2018. He was a Research and Development Engineer for Ulvac Technologies from February 2012 to July 2012 in Tokyo, Japan.

During his time at Raye7, he has worked on branding and communication, business development, product ownership recruitment and allocation, team development and customer relationship management.[10] Raye7 is a community-based mobile carpooling app that connects people who are travelling in the same direction. It is aimed at companies who want their employees to have an eco-friendly and safe transport system to and from work.[11]

Negm completed an apprenticeship at Google as a Participant at Design Sprint in 2015.

In July 2016, he started being an Entrepreneurship Trainer and Mentor as a freelancer.[12] He is currently a Personal Coach for REDNEGM and has occupied this position since January 2020 in the San Francisco Bay Area.[13]

Awards and Achievements

He was a semi-finalist in the World Bank’s We’re Resilientent programme in 2013 in Singapore and was placed second in the BootUp competition for the TIEC in Cairo, Egypt, in December 2013.

2014 was a busy year for Negm as he won the Do School competition in Hamburg, Germany. In that same year, he won the Startup Weekend Giza competition at Nile University, Cairo, and placed first in the TIEC in the StartIT competition.[14] This competition is a nationwide business plan competition that targets entrepreneurs with ICT-related prototypes and proof of concepts who want to turn their ideas into enterprises.[15]

He also managed the #RiseUp14 event, an entrepreneurship summit in Egypt.[16]

CairoScene’s 25 Entrepreneurs Under 25, featured Ahmed Negm in August, 2015.[17] Negm also won the 2015 Startup competition in Injaz and was awarded the Best Egyptian startup in 2015 by DEMO Africa in VC4A in Lagos, Nigeria. This pan-African startup competition is aimed at showcasing the continent’s talents while providing opportunities for investors and tech entrepreneurs.[18] He placed third in the Arab Mobile Challenge in Algiers, Algeria.

He placed second in the Nawah competition in 2015 in Cairo, was second in the Seedstars competition in Alexandria, Egypt and Negm was a MENA finalist for the Seedstars competition in Manama, Bahrain in 2016.

On 04 May, 2018, he was a speaker at the Seedstars World Tour that took place in Cairo where discussions around technology and entrepreneurship took place.[19]
