Lucy Hoffman is an experienced business operations specialist[1] who was born in America.[2]

She is the Head of Operations, COO and Co-Founder of Carry1st[3]and assumed this position in September 2018.[4]

Carry1st was founded in 2018 together with Co-Founders, Cordel Robbin-Coker and Tinotenda Mundangepfupfu.[5] Robbin-Coker is the company’s CEO.[6] Mundangepfupfu is the company’s lead engineer[7] and Chief Technology Officer.[8]

Carry1st is a Cape Town-based, American mobile content development startup.[9] The company is a developer of mobile games and content apps for African consumers.[10] Hoffman has worked with founders in startups for the past decade.

Education

She graduated from Dartmouth College in 2008 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree.

Career

She was an intern at Credit Suisse, a global diversity and inclusion team,[11] from 2006 to 2007 in New York.[12]

She worked at Morgan Stanley,[13] focusing on capital market transactions for global power and utility companies.[14] She maintained this position from 2007 to 2012 in New York City. Morgan Stanley assists families, individuals, institutions, and governments in raising, managing, and distributing the capital they need to achieve their goals.[15]

She was a volunteer at Mott Hall Charter School in the Bronx in New York[16] from 2010 to 2012. During this period, she was also a volunteer fundraiser for The Valerie Fund. The Valerie Fund supports children with cancer and blood disorders.[17]

From 2012 to 2013 she was Head of Operations at Nexii, an impact investment facilitation startup, in Cape Town. Nexii is a buildings solutions company that achieves a sustainable approach to using fewer resources, producing less waste and using non-toxic waste materials for healthier living.[18]

Hoffman was the Chief of Staff at the African Leadership Academy[19] from 2013 to 2018 in Johannesburg.

In 2014, she started being a Global Shaper in the Soweto Hub for the World Economic Forum and still maintains this position.

Hoffman was a Consultant for Nova Pioneer from March 2018 to July 2018.[20] Nova Pioneer is a network of schools developing innovators and leaders who will shape the African Century.[21]

Since April 2018 she has been an advisor for Ritual, a well-being app.[22]

Hoffman is a Founding Community Member of StartX. StartX is a collection of serial entrepreneurs, industry experts, tenured Stanford professors and growth-stage startups. The company aims to find creative ways to collaborate for each company to have a long-term positive impact on the world.[23]

Awards and Achievements

She is a registered Yoga teacher and was issued her certification in June 2013 from the Yoga Alliance.
