Paul Selibas is the President: Project Engineering for Ukheshe Technologies. Formally he was a Director of Software Engineering at MasterCard, a financial services company, and has maintained this position since May 2015.

Selibas is an IT enthusiast with a strong business sense specializing in security, payments, innovation and mobile technologies. He has a passion for mobile technology and solving real-world problems.[1]

He is the Director, CTO and Co-Founder of Leep Africa and has occupied this position since January 2019. Leep Africa focuses on data, devices and networks and was founded in 2018 by George Georgiades and Selibas. The company aims to steer Africa towards leading the Fourth Industrial Revolution.[2]

Selibas works in the Information Technology and Services industry,[3] and is a Payments Specialist.[4]


Selibas attended high school in Harare, Zimbabwe and received his Bachelor of Information Technology degree from Bond University, in Gold Coast, Australia,[5] in 2005. The following year, he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology, with Honours, from the University of Johannesburg.

Selibas is working towards achieving his Master’s degree in Information Systems Management from the University of Salford, in England, and started his degree in 2019.


He was a Senior Developer for NET1 UEPS Technologies Inc from March 2007 to September 2011.[6] NET1 UEPS Technologies Inc is a provider of payment solutions, transaction processing services and financial technology across multiple industries in emerging and developed economies.[7]

The following month he became the Lead Developer for Oltio Pty Ltd, a retail company.[8] He was the Senior Developer for Synthesis Software Technologies from January 2014 to April 2015. Synthesis Software Technologies is a specialised software development company, that offers solutions and strategic services to some of South Africa and Africa’s largest banks and financial institutions.[9] He is currently the owner of and has occupied this position since January 2013.[10]

Selibas has worked with cryptography, mobile solutions and digital payments, which led him to pioneer a mobile payments solution called Masterpass South Africa.[11]

Awards and Achievements

He has his own patent for the method of authenticating a device and encrypting data transmitted between the device and the server that was issued to him on 8 March, 2013.[12]

Selibas has contributed towards creating one of the largest payment QR systems in South Africa. Additionally, he built a proof of concept that later became the Emirates Digital Wallet (EDW) app KLIP, the United Arab Emirates’ digital cash ecosystem.[13]
